At my 20 week ultrasound the tech said she was 97% sure we were having a girl, and to leave the tags on things just in case she was wrong. I of course during the insane urge to nest have washed everything at least twice. Now I am paranoid that the hundreds of dollars I know I have spent on clothes and even more that I have spent on decor for the nursery are all wrong. My insurance only covers one ultrasound unless there are problems which I thankfully have not had. I am 37 weeks pregnant today. Has anyone had a child when they were expecting a boy or girl and got the other?

My sister and I both had an ultrasound read wrong. It has also happened to one of my friends. What a big surprise you get when the baby is delivered! Yikes....gotta think of some new names! lol

I don't find out anymore. I buy gender-neutral baby stuff!

Ultrasounds are too expensive anyway and really should only be done for medical reasons because the baby is exposed to the ultrasound waves. Not dangerous....but there is always some risk.

Hi,
I didn't have that experience, however, a friend of mine did. During her second pregnancy, the tech told her she was having a girl and she ended up having a boy.

Having said that, I wouldn't stress. It does happen, but more often than not, they are right on the money. I don't think they'll say that they are 100% sure because if it turns out otherwise, they could get a lot of complaints, etc. Also, I don't think they'd venture a guess at all unless they were reasonably sure the baby was going to be the sex they say.

Good luck and remember, you'll be so taken with your new little one that money spent, etc. really won't cast a shadow on your joy. Nothing will be able to touch it.

I used to be instructed the flawed factor early on. We had an ultrasound at 14 weeks and the health practitioner stated it "gave the impression of" it might be a little bit boy. I had extra ultrasounds at 25 and 32 weeks that confirmed or else, and a further at forty weeks that once more confirmed a woman. It greater be correct finally that! Good success to you.

I was supposed to have a bouncing baby boy, thinking that being 97% sure as they say - There could be no mistakes made -"since they seen a penis there". I was also the same way, having everything washed up, and ready to go. Needless to say when I went into Labor my boy was a beautiful girl. I had everything done in blue, I couldn't believe it. I had to change everything. And She is quite the girly girl, so yes they do make mistakes. I'm guessing they saw the cord between her legs ?? lol ~* But Best of Luck to you !

Nope I have five kids. Four of my first were boys and you could see a turtle with each one. My last was a girl and we failed to find a turtle so we knew she was a girl. We had amino results in a few weeks later telling us it was 100% a girl. If you have bought stuff that was all girl and end up having a boy sell it then buy used baby boy stuff to make up the loss. A lot of consignment stores have nice clothes that you might not find in nearby stores(I just found the most beautiful imported Chinese dress for 5 bucks!)

Do you have a clear sonogram picture from the front view? If so and you see two white spots on either side of the belly over the legs then those are ovaries and it is a girl.

I haven't (haven't been able to find out) But when I had my second child I was told about a lady who was told like 99.9% certain she was having a girl, they had everything in every single shade of pink you could think of....and they had a boy.
