This is for a rental property. The electric stovetop works but the oven does not. I took out the heating element and put it on a multimeter and checked for resistance. It showed 0.00 Ohms. Is the element bad or is something wrong inside the oven?

hello
Try taking your tester and test the element with your tester set for cotinunity. In other words if u touch the to test probes together u should get a reading on your multimeter so when u test the element if u dont get a reading it means the element is burned out.
If u get a reading on that setting then check the fuses for the oven elements.

It should show a few Ohms with a digital meter on the x1 scale... depending on the Wattage. Check for an open fuse which is usually on top of the stove somewhere.

Probably the element, this just happened to my mom's oven. Take it into the hardware store they should have another one there.

The element is done. You can buy a new one but the landlord should look after it or is it your stove.

Go to a scrap yard and get a different element and install it. They are standard on all models.

There should be a resistance. 0 resistance means no resistance - no reason to glow hot. It should be the landlords responsibility.
