What makes Boulder a good place to live? Are there any other towns that one might recommend in Colorado?

I live in Lakewood which is about a half hour South East of Boulder. I live on the West side which is real nice and somewhat more upscale than the East side closer to Denver.

I moved here two years ago from Florida and believe it or not.....the cost of living is CHEAPER, that is for renters. The cost of buying a house is more expensive.

Apartments are the same here as down in Florida, my auto insurance is cheaper out here and my utilities are cheaper! Now, daycare is more expensive out here but, luckily my daughter is now old enough to stay home alone.

I LOVE it here in Colorado and would never move anywhere else. The weather is GREAT but, can be a little unpredictable sometimes. It's nice to be able to open a window at night and feel a cool breeze rather than having to leave the A/C on all night!

There are SO many places to go hiking, too! The views in Boulder are beautiful! Golden is a really beautiful place to live as well. It's just a little to the NW of Lakewood.

Oh yeah, I'm also making 50% more $$ out here than I was down in Florida and that's without a college education!

We live in Longmont and my husband works in Boulder. We love Boulder, the atmosphere, restaurants, etc. We live on the very s.w. edge of Longmont, about 10 minutes from Boulder and we picked it because it was less expensive. Boulder is very expensive housing wise.
We love living here, it's a great area.

Most people who work in Boulder can't afford to live there. That should tell you something about the cost of living. Boulder is pretty but it's very liberal and if a town full of libs is a problem then I'd go elsewhere. I can't recommend any towns in Colorado.

My best friend and her husband/kids just moved to Denver a few mths ago from TX. So far, they love it. The cost of living is a great deal higher than here in TX but, again, she loves it. I like to ski so it is nice to have a friend that I can go stay with when we want to go skiing. It is not a far drive to some ski areas.
