No, I do not eat whale blubber, I get regular food just like people in the lower 48. Whale Blubber is eaten by some alaskan native american tribes, mostly in the rural parts of alaska where native americans still live the subsidy lifestyle, but they eat regular food also.
No bears are not wondering around. Just like everyone else there are rural area where wildlife live. I have several moose in my yard but moose tend to come out during winter times in the city and rural areas. Bears sometimes do come close to homes but that is rare.
I do lots of things up here, I work, go to the movies, my kids go to public school. Fairbanks is the second largest city in Fairbanks. There are some things we are limited to because the winter can be harsh but anything you can do in other states you can do here.
Longest day of the year is June 21, 2007 we have about 22 hours of sunlight and in Dec. we have 22 hours of darkness but around Mar. to May and End of Aug. to Sept. its about equal

Yes we go swimming. Fairbanks has one of the nicest summer getting into the high 80's even though the summer does not last that long. We also have indoor rec swimming pools. In North Pole, AK where I live, we go to Chena lakes which is closest that Fairbankans have to a beach.
