Sounds like you need to clean your filter. Your dryer is over heating.
Here is a test, take filter out of dryer, hold under running water.... does water drain? If not, your dryer sheets have clogged the filter...I would run it through the dishwaher. Might want to switch to liquid fabric softner, this won't happen or remember to clean filter ofter.
If it isn't the filter you might want to try taking you longest vaccum attachement and puting it as far down the dryer vent you can go. Also you may want to check the dryer hose and the exhaust going outside of your house.
Hope this helps!!

I believe dryers have a heat sensor in them and yours may be faulty. It may be sensing that the dryer is overheating and it turns the dryer off and won't come back on until the heat sensor cools down or closes. If your dryer is fairly new, I would call for service. If its old and about time to be replaced, buy a new one.

I wish I knew what kind you had, diferent dryers have different probs.one thing is for sure, the motor overload is getting hot and shutting down.It could be bearings in the motor,is the tub hard to turn? it could be glides have come off and the drum is pinching ,causes the motor to get hot,how about the wheels on the drum ? do they need replacement? does the dryer make a rattling noise, that could be a plastic blower wheel thats causing the dryer to overheat .is the motor real hot? how about the idler pully? is it hard to turn? it may be full of lint and causing excessive heat and shutting down, theonly way to know for sure is to open it up and check it,blow it out and oil some wheels, drill out the motor wells and fill the rotten cotten with fresh zoom oil.

The smoking ban is supposed to be enforced by local council officials, Health and Safety officials to be correct. The Police for once got it right and allowed commonsense to prevail. But i'm sure the Council Officials will be round again. The thing to do is give them a run around different pubs if the landlord is OK with it.

Am guessing the motor is overheating and there it a temperature sensative cut-off switch to protect the motor from burning out. Either the drum is overloaded with wet clothes or the wiring to the dryer is not heavy enough a gage. Try reducing the laundry load and see if that rids the problem.

do you clean out the lint filter after each load, and possibly the vent hose is full of lint causing the dryer to over heat. And it's not turning on is a built in protection to keep you from burning your home down.???

Sounds like the timer has gone bad or it is overheating, think you should consult a technician, this would be a problem for someone more qualified and one who can actually see the dryer to evaluate the problems. Good Luck !

Sounds like your thermostat/timer has given out. You could have it replaced but when mine started to go, I knew it wasn't worth replacing. The thing was about 20 yrs old and had served its purpose. I bought new.

I'd guess that it's over-heating.
You need to check the lint-filter.
It's probably stuffed with lint.
This could be a fire-hazard.
