I thinking of getting a laptop, but all of them in the stores have Vista on them. Can i wipe a laptop hard drive and install XP just like a Desktop PC? I really don't like Vista, and i've done the same kind of thing on a Desktop before, i just want to know if you can do the samed thing on a laptop.

There's no reason why not. Just boot up with the Windows XP install CD and away you go... don't forget to format over the Vista partition and laugh maniacally in the process. "We hates them we do, the evil Vistases!"

Well it depends on the brand laptop. Make sure you have a genuine Retail or OEM copy of XP. The laptop you choose make sure you research the model to obtain the Chipset, Audio , Network Card and video drivers.
Insert the XP CD reboot from CD and Format and new Install and you should not have a problem. The main problem you will have is your Tech Support will be axed.

Dell give you the choice of XP or Vista on their new laptops and they are great machines for a reasonable price.

Yes, you can.. However, in doing so.. You might need to aquire the drivers for the hardware/software seperately. http://driverguide.com should help. But, you might need another system to download the drivers and burn them to a CD/DVD for you. (( Might ))
