how do you know if you are having a ectopic pregnancy?

have been ttc for 6 months, all negative tests, haven't had period for nearly 2 months now. what are the signs of ectopic pregnancy? I have had a previous infection and worried that I am at more risk of having a ectopic pregnancy!

A positive pregnancy test accompanied by:

Light vaginal bleeding
Nausea and vomiting
Lower abdominal pain
Sharp abdominal cramps
Pain on one side of the body
Dizziness or weakness
Pain in the shoulder, neck or rectum

Women who have had previous infections particularly that of the the fallopian tubes (salphingitis) are at risk to have ectopic pregnancy due to scarring of the afffected area.

The most common sign of ectopic pregnancy is a sharp,stabbing pain on the right lower quadrant of the abdomen (similar to the pain in appendicitis) that may radiate up to the shoulder.

Other symptoms that can be experienced are pregnancy-related (i.e., nausea).

The danger of having ectopic is when it rupture.Too much blood would be loss if not treated immediately.

Usually you will bleed throughout the pregnancy. You will also have cramping. But there is also a possibility that you might have no clue you have an ectopic until an ultrasound is performed.

The most common symptoms, besides a missed period are sharp pains on one side of the abdomen, and sometimes fever and nausea/vomiting. Some women have bleeding as well as dizziness and low blood pressure.

Pain is really the red flag, though. Most women say it is sharp or stabbing.

You should also test positive for pregnancy.
