I just bought a new Dell Inspiron 6400 from dell equipped with an ATi Mobility Radeon x1400. However, the graphics drivers that dell included with the card are out of date. and the Verification Utility that ATi has you download before downloading the real driver says that the software is not compatible to update (i'm assuming since the drivers are included by dell). Can I uninstall the drivers that came with my dell and install the latest ATi drivers? or will i just ruin my laptop?

My name is Rick and I am a Dell Customer Advocate, you may be able to get other drivers to work, but Dell only supports the drivers available on Support.Dell.com as they have been extensively tested to work with the system, If you do a Google search you can find 3rd party drivers that often do work, however Dell does not support them.

If it's not broke, do not fix it.

If anything, go to the Dell website, put in the make/model of your system, and see if they have any new drivers for you there.

X300 or X1300 ? Because one's a desktop card, and ones a laptop card.
