I am both a democrat and a christian, I always try to see something from another person's or religion's point of view..sometimes it helps you to understand people better...people believe in what they believe for a reason, but no one says that everyone else has to agree with it..thats just life

Well, the easiest way to avoid getting duped is just close and lock your door. Don't deal with anyone. That would be just fine with me but we can't do that. The Lord tells us to come down off the mountain and go into the village. It is hard to say here's the 1 2 3 of not getting duped because we all are different and we all have different relationships with God. I believe that those that are heavily invested in God; seek Him earnestly, follow Him at all costs, etc, have more protection than those who are lukewarm. So to speak. And it is wise to invest time and diligence in developing your relationship with Wisdom. She was after all, at God's right hand when He laid the foundations of the earth. She is way cool and so much more gnarly that God because She can do exactly what God can do but She does not have to forgive. She's like an independent contractor. She operates on Her own. And if you love Her and listen to Her and show Her that you do through your actions - watch out. Your army of protection is so beyond human comprehension. Why do you think I am always talking about Wisdom? She gets no airtime and is so so so deserving of it. For me, Wisdom is the mother I never had. And I will never stop ringing the bell in Her behalf. Her combined with the Lord and my Guardians, keep me safe in this world. And a little left over Atheist residue always helps. You can't bs an old bs'r.

Yes, I really, really tried. But the more I try, the more frustrated I get. I think George Carlin said it best:

"But I want you to know something, this is sincere, I want you to know, when it comes to believing in God, I really tried. I really, really tried. I tried to believe that there is a God, who created each of us in His own image and likeness, loves us very much, and keeps a close eye on things. I really tried to believe that, but I gotta tell you, the longer you live, the more you look around, the more you realize, something is ****** up.

Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed. Results like these do not belong on the résumé of a Supreme Being. This is the kind of **** you'd expect from an office temp with a bad attitude. And just between you and me, in any decently-run universe, this guy would've been out on his all-powerful *** a long time ago."

Yes. I am a hard atheist, and I frequently have to readjust my point of view in order to share a frame of reference with people who believe in a higher power. Even people who do not see themselves as religious are deeply affected by the belief that they will still be around after they die, and it affects decisions and choices they make in their lives.

I'm cool with that.

I just wish people would try it from my point of view instead of running away screaming, as though because I don't have some big beard in the sky standing over me with a match and a can of lighter fluid in case I sin, I somehow have no moral structure and might kill everyone I see at any moment.
