What exactly is nu-metal? I've heard various bands described as that genre and sometimes some of them sound nothing alike. But Mudvayne, I think, sounds nothing like anyone else, especially their first album. I just describe them as hard rock. Works for me. They're not very metal, given that Chad sings far more than metal bands. As a matter of fact, i usually hate metal but i love Mudvayne.

I ask myself the same question. I generally don't go for nu-metal since it is a watered down, generic form of metal aimed to sell to as many people as possible; however, MudVayne does stand out. I really enjoy all four of their albums and their different eras.

Yes, especially if you're going by their first 3 albums. They first emerged during that awful time when nu-metal was.....well..... new, but they really stood out from the rest. I have been disappointed in their most recent "radio friendly" albums. I guess not everything can be L.D. 50. Still love 'em though!

I dont know much about Mudvayne but they sound good. Alot of people will say they are numetal because they dislike numetal , if its what I think it is, "nu"=new metal? Either way, I like alot of heavier rock.
