Because Nancy Pelosi (and all liberals) know that truth and results have no bearing in politics. Promise everything and, after the fact, just claim your intentions were good and that the evil Republicans kept you from improving anything.
This is how liberals get away with complaining about gas prices and attacking oil companies while, at the same time, preventing us from building refineries and drilling our own oil.

This is a very simple answer:POWER!
Nonone in Congress has the ability to control the price of gas as it is comodity in a capitalist society. But if you regulate it through Congressional legislation, then Nancy can contro the price.
That little slip of th tounge was an indication that Nancy and all other liberal democrats arre socialists. Plain and simple.

Yeah that's a foolish thing for anyone in Washinton to say. They have asbsolutely no control over the price of oil and are just fooling themselves as they attempt to fool us.
