How much weight did you gain with your 2nd pregnancy? How hard was it to lose? I am really nervous about it because I never lost all the weight from my first. I'm hoping for some happy stories, but am preparing for horror stories as well. Also, did breastfeeding help ? I didn't do it long enough with my first to see a difference. Thanks!

With my first I gained about 28 pounds (girl) With my second I only gained 14 pounds (boy). I`m 32.5 weeks pregnant with my 3rd (a girl) and I`ve gained 17 pounds so far.. With my first I held on to the weight longer and kept the last five. With my second I lost all of the weight within 3 weeks. I`m hoping this pregnancy will be the same!! Good Luck to you and congrats on your baby!!
Oh, as far as breastfeeding goes...I think it really does help but every body is different.. With my first I only breastfed for the first month...with my second I breast fed for almost 3 months...

I gained 31 lbs with my first baby and then got pregnant with my second when she was 6 months old. I was still a little bit over my pre-pregnancy weight, but put on less weight, about 24 lbs. I breastfed both for about a year. I lost most of the weight quickly which I put down to breastfeeding, but also running around after a baby and toddler! I stopped breastfeeding the second about 5 months ago and when I stopped I almost immediately lost another 5lbs, I was actually underweight for a while. A lot of people say that when you are breastfeeding, although you initially lose weight more quickly you actually retain about 5 to 10 extra pounds that your body needs to keep producing the milk. Breastfeeding is definitely the way to go, weight loss or not!

I am pregnant with my 4th child. I gained about the same with each pregnancy, but it did get harder and harder to lose the weight with each one too. This pregnancy has been different because I haven't gained much at all, but I think it's because I am running after the 3 we already have. Breastfeeding will burn 500 cals a day if you breastfeed only, but you also have to have a higher cal intake to sustain your milk.
I think good old fashion excercise and eating right are the best ways to lose the weight after baby comes.

My sister had a baby in Oct. 04, gained about 30lbs with that pregnancy and was pg again by jan. 05--gained more like 60 this pregnancy. Anyway, after the birth of the second she didn't breastfeed and started losing weight immediately. Within about 4 months she was below her pre-pregnancy weight. The reason for her quick weight loss--according to the drs--is that during her second pregnancy she had gestational diabetes and conformed to a diabetic way of eating--small meals often, 6-8 a day, and always eating breakfast. After the baby came she kept eating this way and they said it increased her metabolism. Good luck and congrats!

I put on 73 pounds when I was pregnant with my first son. But I lost 86 by the time he was 5 months, it kinda fell off, I just watched what I ate.
With my second son I didn't gain any weight until the last month and I put on 17 pounds.....BUT I actually put more weight on after I had him. I breast feed until he was months and as soon as i stopped breast feeding I started losing weight again.
I am now pregnant with our third child, I am 4 months, due in November. From the time I found I was pregnant until now I have lost 15 pounds!
I think with your second child it is more difficult to put on weight because you are so busy with your toddler and you are also watching what he/she eats so you tend to eat a bit better then with your first because you can not be so self indulgent!
Good luck with the pregnancy and try not to stress to much!!!

My first I put on a lot of weight. Didn't have a chance to lose any of it before I fell pregnant with number 2. But I lost weight with my second one. Partly because I ate a lot healthier with my second pregnancy. And also I was chasing around a baby (fell pregnant again when 1st was 3 months). I didn't breastfeed at all, but when I exercised and ate good, I lost the weight rather easy.

I dont think breastfeeding helped me lose weight after my first, now preggers with my second I have gained a bit of weight but not too much, so after its born I'm just going to go for a daily walk, and eat healthy.

You do use an extra 500cals or somthing (i think its higher than that) everyday whilst breastfeeding, guess it depends on the individual.

With my 1st I gained 52lbs. With my 2nd I only gained 34 lbs. I went off of work 10 days before I had my daughter and went back to work 10 days after having her wearing my size 8 uniform pants. I did not breastfeed. I can't remember how much I gained with my 3rd, but it is definitely harder to lose the more you have. He is 17 months old and I still haven't got back down to prepregnancy size.

about 24 pounds for the first, and about the same for the 2nd, but only 14 for the third and he was over 10 pounds. No I didn 't lose it. BF is so much easier than sterilizing bottles, the kids are all grown and wonderful people. Maybe it helped

I gained less in my second pregnancy than I did in my first. I think b/c I was chasing my 2 yr old around. And I lost it all very quickly. I breastfed.
