which Democratic Party are they glamorizing and which Democratic Party are they bashing?
I think it's pretty obvious they are bashing the liberal wing of the Democratic Party. Who does that leave? It leaves the good old boy RACIST, southern, CONSERVATIVE Democrats of the past.
"The name given to a group of conservative southern Democratic Senators, and one Republican Senator (John Tower of Texas), who opposed passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The southern bloc was led by Senator Richard Russell of Georgia."

Title of the short article:
"THE SOUTHERN BLOC"
Senator Richard Russell, Democrat from Georgia, led the so-called opposition forces. The group was also known as the "southern bloc." It was composed of eighteen southern Democrats and one Republican, John Tower of Texas. Although a hopeless minority, the group exerted much influence because Senate rules virtually guaranteed unlimited debate unless it was ended by cloture. The "southern bloc" relied on the filibuster to postpone the legislation as long as possible, hoping that support for civil rights legislation throughout the country would falter. The Democratic leadership and Humphrey could not control the southern wing of the party.

IN CASE ANYBODY BRINGS UP TRUMAN
Harry Truman, speaking to Senator Russell, explains that the liberal Democrats in "Chicago, New York, St. Louis and Kansas City" would never vote for him, and "they must be kept in the Democratic Party."

Pythargors,
JFK never passed a tax cut. He made one speech on it. The tax cut that was passed in 1964 was LBJ's. It cut tax rates but also closed tax loopholes resulting in a net increase in tax revenue.

Farly,
You're very uninformed. Ask yourself why the North now votes Democrat and the South now votes Republican. Something started to happened in 1948 and 1964. Do yousrelf a favor and find out.

hahaha... I always find it funny when a conservative will go "The Dems aren't the same party they were years ago"
then in five minutes another conservative will post a question that goes something like "Dems are the party of racism, look at their history, right?"
the dem party has changed... no doubt about it...
conservatives can see it... yet most seem to miss it more than despise it?
and JFK was more liberal than Clinton... and messed around more TOO!
ever heard of his New Horizons program conservatives? it takes more than tax breaks to be a conservative

If Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt were running for office today, they would be considered progressives.
After the Civil War, there was a scism between the Northern Democrats and the Southern Democrats.
I hate to be the one to deliver the bad news to the Cons, but the Post-Civil War Southern Democrats of the past are the Cons of today.

David Dukes
Strom Thurmond
Some of the Southern Democrats hung on a little longer than others, such as George Wallace, who ultimately became an Independant.

No, they are actually saying that some Democrats, such as JFK, had conservative policies regarding taxation (in fact, if I am not mistaken, JFK's tax rates were comparable to Reagan's), were fiscally conservative, and did not sell out to the left wing of the party.
Racism has nothing to do with it.

You can't have it both ways. If you're going to dig this deep, and this far back, to try to insult conservatives, then you have to own up to two important facts. One, it was the Republicans who freed the slaves. Two, it was the Republicans who passed the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
While we're at it, let's make a list of all the liberals' accomplishments. Uh....um...yeah...oh...
