I get this everytime I'm pregnant and it drives me crazy! I literally have to keep a spit cup handy. Ugghh
My midiwife told me it is caused by pregnancy hormones. And probably, if you are feeling nauseous, you don't want to swallow so that makes you build up even more spit.

Your heartrate increases when you're pregnant, and most people, in addition to the normal increased blood supply, experience an increase of other bodily fluids as well. In other words, you can find you sweat way more easily, you have lots of saliva, and you have ample, uh, natural lubrication? (some women enjoy sex MORE during pregnancy for this very reason)
I never had an increase in saliva to the extent of needing a spit cup, though, and find it's only really really bad when I have really really bad heartburn/acid reflux.

"Experts don't know what causes some women to have excessive salivation in early pregnancy, but hormonal changes may be a culprit. Also, nausea might make some women try to swallow less, causing saliva to build up in the mouth."-- http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/pregnancy/prenatalhealth/9454.html

I did. It went correct together with my morning ailment. The saliva made me believe even sicker. They say to preclude starchy meals when you have a saliva concern, however that used to be all I might maintain down. Luckily each issues went away approximately the thirteenth week.

Yeah, there's no explanation - or need - for it. It's caused by hormones. I had it with both my pregnancies and didn't have nausea or spewing with either.

yuck I hated that! I also had a spit cup. All I did was puke and that made it much worse. My doc said b/c my hormones were crazy. I sucked on peppermints and it helped me.
