I'll disqualify my hometown of S.F. and vote for New York City-culture,creative energy, theater, commerce, great food, best museums in the world, the heart of a survivor (God Bless NYPD and NYFD), as much as I hate them best baseball franchise in history the Yankees, landmarks and beautiful women I want to meet like the gorgeous blonde named Nicole!

Chicago! It's got everything New York City does but without the garbage and over-crowding.

For living, I'd say Portland, Oregon. Love the feel there. (Though Seattle's not too far behind!)
For a vacation, maybe Ft. Lauderdale, Florida? Fun restaurants, beaches and other sights not too far away...

San Francisco. But I'm biased since I'm from the area. This is such a random question that I think the majority of people are going to support their hometown.

Any city that you can live affordably, make a decent living, and feel relatively comfortable. There is no "best" city. It's what you make of it - it's all up to you. You determine your destiny.
