A labtop? That's a new one to me. I've heard of Laptop and notebook but never labtop. Could it be somebody just trying to be "punny"? I've been working with them since 1990.

essentially, it is laziness in language. It's like how people say "come here." It sounds a lot like "c'mere." some things are just said so many times that in time, people just become lazy in pronounciation.
