I don't know but I did just quit to. God it's hard. I started gaining weight so I started working out 5 days a week and buying only healthy foods until I get rid of my cravings. I've heard it takes like 8 days for food to start tasting better an 3 wks for cravings to subside so maybe a month or 2? Man sweets I wish you the best of luck. Hardest habit out there to quit. For those that don't know, they can never understand the negatives of quitting and if you ever need support or help, I accept emai, you can contact me any time. I do understand what you are going thru and those helplines are a joke!! Gum...YUCK!!! and the patches, they made me faint and get dizzy every time. I'm just doing this off of good old fashioned will power and there are days it's hard NOT to. I am trying to get pregnant, so that keeps me going, but women have more addictive personalitites so it's harder to quit. Stay strong and talk to your doctor about the timeline, I would say, as with everything in life, it's different for every person. Great job tho, even if you cheat, you're still trying!!!

since you smoke that much everyday, your body got adjusted having these poisons running ur body. That's why people with more serious drug problems can actually die by quiting abruptly. You hav to take decrease your amount of cigarettes maybe every few weeks or whatever you're comfortable with. The reason why you were coughing and stuff (tryign to not smoke) was because your body was so used to having 2-5 cigarettes a day. So each week you should decrease slowly from 2-4cigarettes, then another few weeks, 2-3, then so on.

Im 19 and have been smoking on and off for 2.5 years. Sometimes I quit for weeks at a time and then I just need a cig soooo bad and it feels soooo good when I give in. I'm not a pack a day person, I only smoke at most 3-5 a day to take the edge off. Its better than smokin pot every day like I used to, in a legal sense. It's not so much a physical need for cigs as the fact that I integrate them into my routine. its hard to break the routine.

i dont think the nicotine takes long at all. i was over the chemical addiction about one week after i quit cold turkey. it was the habit that took forever to kick. after i ate i wanted one, when i was driving, right before bed, when i have a beer, etc. i would just chew lots of gum and clean a lot of house. its been 8 months since i quit and i barely need the gum anymore. congratulations and good luck. dont you just love all the extra energy you have?
