How do you feel about the sentence Mary Winkler received for murdering her husband? Do you think she should get immediate custody of her three children back like she is contesting?

I live in TN so of course, it's a big story here. I think she should definitely get her kids back when she gets out. I think it's interesting that she will only serve about 60 days and Paris Hilton got 45 days! But, I do believe her and I do believe that she was abused. A person can only take so much I believe. I think it was self defense even though she shot him from the back so he wasn't doing anything physically at her at that moment. I think she had battered wife syndrome. And in my opinion, if he was what she said, then he deserved what he got.

Another disgusting travesty of justice. Justice??? She basically convinced the idiotic jury using hearsay and innuendo, absolutely no concrete evidence. I feel so sad for those kids to have a murderer mom and a dead father who'll never get a chance to defend himself. This was so obviously a pre-meditated murder over the embarassment and scandal about being taken in a scam. Why didn't she just divorce him? It makes no sense. She never proved any physically abuse, only a wig and some high heels - which could have been used in sexual roleplay, consentual as well. But she convinced the idiotic jury that this was abuse??? Huh??? I hope she never gets those kids back, I hope they stay with the dad's parents. They deserve to be brought up by someone other than a true whack job.

You're just perpetuating the cycle of excuses----Mary Winkler has nothing to do with this case---Why did OJ go free? I don't know, but in this case Michael Vick is going to pay for his cruelty and sadistic behavior

I watched her testimony on Court TV and just like the jury I believed her. She was believable and seemed very credible. I think she was abused both physically and particularly emotionally. You back even the meekest of animals into a corner sometimes and they will bite you. There was only evidence to the fact that she was a great Mother to her children and therefore she should and probably will get immediate custody of them. They love her and belong with her and she will have to work out how to explain everything to them.

Gosh this is tough one because I am prolife and against killing anyone including the death penelty but I was not a battered wife but a battered fiance for 4 years and I understand how trapped you can get also thinking it will get better and believing he will never do it again when it says it. I do feel sorry for her but not sure what I feel about the sentence. I do feel she needs some serious counseling however no matter what happens to help her realize she can live a happy life. The kids must be just going through hell right now because I am sure they witnessed much of this abuse. I hope they are with family not in foster care and seperated and I hope they as well are getting counseling.

I think it's absolutely outrageous. If a man had blasted his wife away while she slept he would have been looking at murder one with possible life without parole or maybe the death penalty. I'm very uncomfortable with someone who is capable of picking up a shotgun and blowing someone away having custody of three children. She couldn't prove self-defense and the best she came up with for abuse is he called her names, made her wear a wig and high heels and made her watch porn. Big deal. Get a divorce.
