Humour is important, but everyone is different. I don't laugh at all the same stuff as my husband and he just thinks some of the things I laugh about are weird.
The thing about Yahoo! Answers! and other written messages is that we only have the words. In most communication we rely on visual and audio clues to what the intention of the speaker is.
Some of the questions asked are obviously serious and some the replies are in poor taste [in my opinion]. However, I would not want Yahoo! Answers to be too serious and dry. I like the fun and quirky questions and answers. I am interested in what everyone has to say whether I agree with it or not. If we were all the same, the world would be a boring place.

the main difference between here ang google is the answers are from real people and are therfore more entertaining, sometimes they forget to read the question which adds the the humour.
I think the serious answers are still the backbone of 'answers' and the others just smooth the process a bit.

I love the humour on here...sometimes i just fall about laughing at some answers..there are a lot of witty people here, and i just love it....
Having said that if a serious Q is asked the poster deserves a serious and thoughtful answer. : x )

There is a place for everything that is why we have a jokes section. If you make a joke of everything then it just shows you are a joke or a jerk.
Some people are asking serious question about problems that they have, to make a joke of it is to say you don't give a sh*t about them and their problem. If that is the case why come on answers, set up a joke group. That way you can bore each other silly all day long.

Humour seems to be very rare on here, If you post a question that is obviously a joke a lot of people get all pissy Lighten up folks. This is supposed to be fun

Humor is good for certain questions, serious answers are good for the serious questions.

It's a nice idea, but Yahoo would never implement it. To do it, Yahoo would have to hire more people to administer a system like that, and it would cost them more money.

I like to be humorous, but it doesn't fit every time. I just answered a question from someone who's father died recently. The person was hurting and I didn't see any humor there. And I didn't respond with any.
