i'm making a jester/ harlequin costume for an anime convention and am finding it harder to buy simple black and white harlequin diamond style fabric. most of the patterns i've found are perfect, but i nthe wrong colors ar the right colors but the wrong pattern...help!

Why not make your own? Buy black and white fabrics, then cut diamond shapes using a template.Sew chains of them together into strips, then sew the strips side by side to make fabric. Cut your costume from that. http://www.ezquilt.com/products/acrylictools/diamondshapes.htm

Our quilt guild just had a black and white challenge this year. Most were stars. Some did a square in a square. The turning twenty will be super if the fabrics have contrast in the designs. Test is out by laying the fat qtrs. at different angles to each other. That should give you a good feel for how the finished quilt will look. Happy Quilting.
