New Rock in Fish Tank?

My Dad works at a Granite and Rock place....and he brought home some decorative rock for my niece's fish tank. Its a 10gal tank with 2 goldfish in it. We have a pump and a light. Temp is usually around 74-80Degrees. Is it dangerous to put this rock in.......Rock is "dolmite", :mica", "woodrock"(white) and "black granite"? Any help would be appreciated...Thanks in advance. I dont want her goldfish to die on her.

the granite is ok -- the dolomite is sedimentary and will probably fall apart in the tank and raise the ph -- the mica might be sedimentary -- some is and some isn't. you can always try boiling it (its best to sterilize it anyway). if you get any bits in the bottom of the pot don't use it.

many homeowners of educate high quality fish and breeders with “uncommon” and intense-high quality breeding inventory want protecting fish in bare bottom tanks. the reason is that the fish are a lot less probably to swallow substrate. As you indicated, the tanks are also a lot extra ordinary to save clean and bare bottom tanks provide a lot less chance for risky micro organism to colonize. some might want to assert fish will die in bare bottom tanks because the substrate serves to provide a medium for useful micro organism to stay in. In bare bottom tanks, the clear out resources the media for the useful micro organism.

For one thing the heat doses not need to be that warm, goldfish do better in 68 to 70,and just make sure the rock was washed well, with warm water no soap, it gould stick to the rock, and you would no for for sure if it all washed off, soap kills fishes!

Do not put any rock in the tank that isn't sold at a reputable aquarium. It could raise or lower the ph and kill all your fish.

well im not sure about this .but u can test it with one 12c fish .
