The longer you let her get away without paying, the more the chances are she won't remember to pay you. Gently remind her that she promised to pay you. You shouldn't have to tell her why you need/want the money back.

Remind her gently, but keep in mind that she might be in a financial bind right now and just can't pay it back. Surely she's not the kind of person to just run out on you, or you wouldn't have made her a loan in the first place. I know you need the money back, but you can't squeeze blood out of a turnip. Just keep reminding her (nicely) and she'll pay it back as soon as she is able to. If she gets an attitude or whatever, then also remind her that you were kind enough to loan her the money out of the goodness of your heart. And for future reference, always loan money with the understanding that you may not get it back. In other words, don't put yourself in a bind to loan it. Good luck to you.

The rule of lending money: NEVER lend money, if you give it out, consider it a GIFT and NEVER expect it back. That way you will never have hard feelings. Only GIFT what you can afford to be without. The only saving grace is they will not ask again, because you have ammunition to say NO.

Some people I wouldn't lend money too, they need to learn how to manage money in the first place. Some people I would give them money and consider it a gift. Maybe you can assist her in money management. Like what are her needs and wants? Does she spend too much money from the ATM.

If you ever loan money to a relative or anyone else, YOU are responsible for preparing yourself in case that money is never repaid for any reason.

Relatives are a special case. You can't go against them without going against the family.

She is your sister. Let it go. Never know when you may need a loan from her. By the way, just wondering why you posted this question on "marriage and divorce" ?
