How would you define defeat for the US? No one is going to kick us out of Iraq, when we leave, it is going to be on our terms.

Whether, we have a stable government in place or not, whether we have done everything that people want us to or not.

Agree or disagree with the war, I don't think any American supports US defeat. If you do, I think you have something wrong with your head and you should re-evaluete your decision to stay in the US as an American.

You can be against the war and be pro bringing the troops home. But to say you want a defeat is implying you want US troops dead.

You need to have a definition for the phrase "wining in Iraq" before answering this question, because if you think that we are wining in Iraq then you need to learn more about history and a reality check:
First, we wanted to liberate Iraqis from a Tyrone, Iraq is now shredded, more innocent civilians have been killed, and they are headed into a civil war if they are not already into one
Second, we wanted to fight terrorism, it seems to me that terrorism is growing, and if you say that we have protected America from another attack, then you please tell me why Americans are not allowed to travel to most places on earth???
Third, we wanted to build a nation, well does this look to you like a nation that is built? they used to have 24hours electricity, clean water, safe streets, and cheap oil. They used to have one of the best educational system in the area, schools, colleges and universities... now a very good percentage of university professors been killed or fled the country,
Fourth, Iraq was known as "between two bars you find a bar" this is how peaceful and liberated Iraq was.
I can go on and to prove that we are not winning in Iraq...
So please let us agree first and have the right definition for the term "WINNING IN IRAQ"
Thank you

I agree with katydid, and I would add: the people who keep referring to a "defeat" on TV and radio and in Congress are the same ones who thought this war was a good idea to begin with, who have been wrong every step of the way, and who now are trying to cover their behinds instead of accepting responsibility for their mistakes.

We won by getting rid of Saddam. At this point, we can DECLARE victory and leave. After all, we are the only ones who can say what victory and defeat are. This is a voluntary war, and we started it on our own terms, so we can end it on our own terms.

All the rest of the "defeat" talk is nothing but spin.

I don't support a defeat for the US. Unfortunately, no American or American institution, including our armed forces can make that choice.

The Iraqis can. They have made it. What I, or any one supports or not does not matter. It is a fact. We have to deal with the facts and ask ourselves what is the correct thing to do now.

I think getting our people out of their civil war is the sane choice.

No, so I want to blame the people who are responsible for the defeat. And that's republicans. Entering into a war of choice that you end up losing is the worst thing the president can do, and Bush somehow managed to do it.

To those who think we could still win, the win conditions are NO CIVIL WAR, and we have a civil war. ie: Lost by Bush and the top military leaders. The war has been replaced by a civil war and the republican's don't even know who they want to win.

If you are asking if I’m ready to admit that the President of the United States has muffed up this whole ordeal, Hell yeah… I admit it. “We” made a mistake.

“Cut & Run”, or admit to a mistake?

If you are asking do I think that “our troops” have failed “us”; HELL NO!!!

Our troops have preformed perfectly. They’ve utilized the resources given to them above and beyond expectations. They have and will perform what it is asked of them and I thank God that my country has been blessed with such great people.

Defeat is in the eye of the beholder; the American public will never call the mistake in Iraq a defeat. It has been a learning experience and will be reflected upon as such - in the history books.

Yes, I support admission to a mistake – a defeat. None of us are above that.

With Bush's current war "strategy" US defeat in Iraq is just around the corner...military muscle won't solve the problems. Diplomacy and aid from Syria and Iran and distributing oil reveneues is the best option and not Bush imperialistic military brass.

Defeat is not an an answer. The answer is vicotory, but i think if you ask any republican they would answer with "no" rather then a democrat with a possitive "yes". I am an independent and i dont think the U.S can be defeated unless another nation hops in and that would not only be a civil war as it is now, but it would start a World War.

What would defeat consist of . Possibly establishing realistic goals .
I would like to travel to other planets as much as having Iraq a peaceful society .
Reality however is a different story .
We can not be defeated period . No matter how many people they get we will win every battle .
We have superior weapons and a well trained military willing to die because they are ordered to .
They do this because they made a pledge and took an oath .
Bush took one also to defend the constitution . We all know now its just a GODAMN piece of paper to him .

Considering I am not a democrat, the answer would be NO

Democrat traitors would support a defeat they would rather the nation loses to spite the President, thats how petty and pathetic democrats are
