This is where I had the best steak EVER. An I have eaten at some of the best steakhouses. My friend who manages 3 world class restaurants agreed.

I has an 18oz filet for $20. And this is not jockey meat :-) Great quality. I walked the streets of St. Louis and I asked every beat cop where to eat. 9 of 10 said Tuckers.

Here it is 2 years later and now I see they have a website.

http://www.tuckersplace.com/

They list their awards on the site but look:

There are a lot of good places to eat St. Louis. Tony's downtown is widely considered the all around best in St. Louis. It's a very nice place and a little on the pricey side. Tony's is a great place for those special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, and etc. Monarch in Maplewood usually makes those lists of "best" in St. Louis. Charlie Gitto's "on the hill" is really good Italian food. The Charlie Gitto's downtown location is much more casual, but a great place for a mid priced meal. Across the river in Illinois is a place called Bella Milano. It's located in Edwardsville. Bella Milano is another good mid priced Italian restaurant. Tucker's was mentioned in another post. It's a good value. Tucker's is kind of a steak place in a bar environment. If you are looking for steak try Fleming's at Plaza Frontenac. They have a great wine list and lots of different wines by the glass. There are so many good places. Hope this helps.

Just about any place on the Hill, or on South Grand. I like Mokabe's. Oh and Riddles in the Loop, and I second Duff's in the CWE as well as Balaban's. The brunch at the Art Museum restaurant is fabulous.

It depends on what you like, but STL has some the best restaurants in the country, although I may be a little partial.

B.B.Q. you have to try out Super Smokers in Eureka. The best in the World.

Shannon's if your downtown.

The Drunken Fish and Sub Zero Vodka are good for sushi, both are in the Central West End.

If you like Italian you have to go to Giovanni's on the hill, invented toasted ravoli.

You can search the names and get directions and I believe all have websites.

enjoy :)

i guess a lot of people in st louis dont know what a chain restaurant entails. try terrene on sarah ave in midtown. its near slu. very fresh ingredients, an eco friendly approach. veg and vegan selections. sidney street cafe in benton park is in the top 3 every year. frazers and niche are also in that neighborhood. cardwell's in frontenac is great food if you can handle the yuppies. duff's in the central west end on euclid is great. great chef that used to cook for the grateful dead (dont let this turn you off). there are tons of little sections of town that have authentic ethnic cuisine. little mexico on cherokee st in south city, little vietnam on south grand, the hill in southwest city for italian, bevo mill area for bosnian, china town is over on olive in university city.
good luck.
