Email, and I've received replies (cut and paste I'm sure) from everyone except Hillary Clinton's camp. I make it short, respectful and stick to the issue. I don't give advice. I just lay out reasons for my opinion as an American.

I use email for some issues, especially if the official has requested that method. If you want your corresponence to be noticed though you will get much better results with a letter. I mainly give my view on current or impending action, but do offer exporess approval when due.

I have done so many times, By Mail in the past, now by email.
Always with respect, giving my views and suggestions, but have NEVER received any satisfaction or any evidence that the intended recipient even read what I had written.
Form letter response is typical.
I even wrote a ten page program once, complete with research results and documentation, and the answer I got indicated it wasn't read. The answer addressed another topic.
I still do it, but wonder why.
If we have NO representation, we have tyranny.

When I find out about something I don't like I contact my Legislators, either state or federal. I tell them what I don't like and why I don't like it. Sometimes I tell them what I think should happen in a certain case, law or action. However, I do have the right to complain, and NO, I am not obligated to do their job for them. If I have to do their job for them, then I want all their pay and benefits as well!

I contact my elected officials whenever I have something I think they need to hear. Sometimes it's kudos, but lately it's been mostly complaints, because they are currently being idiots. I have them all in my e-mail address book, including an address for the White House, and I don't hesitate to let them hear from me, as one of their employers.
