Good Question... I've observed these people and tried to understand their logic. They have a problem with progress as they dislike anything different, new, or contrary to established posits. They can be associated with the extreme fundamentalist rapture right religious cults who apparently support a mutually agreed consensus. They hate, as you say, and are very intolerant of anything fresh. After evaluating them for sometime I've concluded that they're a very insecure group generally speaking. This is evidently why they're so reluctant for change. Be that as it may they've certainly created a mess we have to straighten out.

They either are the problem or creating the problem, thus unable to accept responsibility and work constructively to solve the problem, they resort to distracting people off the subject by intimidation, name calling, questioning ones patriotism and propaganda.

Unfortunately, some people just can't take constructive criticism. They seem to be completely unable to fathom the notion that a person can love his/her country and still not agree with all of its policies.
