I have a large pond and i'm wanting to put Koi in it but i'm not sure where i can buy some. I don't want to pay too much for them (PetSmart sells them for 7 bucks, for the small ones, so any place cheaper would be amazing) Thanks!

J&J Nursery in Layton has koi - sometimes 3 for $10.98 or something like that. Of course, they're only about 4-5" long, but they could easily be double that size by the end of the summer. Some of the bigger sizes - like 8-10" ones, are sold there for about $20 a piece. Valley Nursery in Uintah sells about the same, for the same price. In my opinion, J&J has prettier fish, but the people at Valley know their stuff better and tend to sell healthier fish.

If you want any REALLY big ones, like over 16" or so, you pretty much have to go to a dealer. I can give you the name and number of one in Kaysville if you are interested, but you will probably pay at least $75 or more for ones that size. E-mail me through my profile if you want more info.

Hope this helps - good luck!

Many garden centers sell koi (not Home Depot, more local type stores). If the fish at Petsmart look healthy, $7 for koi is pretty cheap. They will grow quickly. You can also post an add on craigslist, people may be looking to give away koi that are too large for their tank.

Well, I think seven bucks is really worth it. Some people sell them for $60 bucks in NJ. The fish they sell is about 6 inches long. I would just get the one from PetSmart. It is really worth it unless you don't trust the quality of the fish.
