Detroit's game plan in the 2004 finals was to let Shaq have his because they knew they didn't have the bodies to guard him. Ben Wallace played him straight up and couldn't really stop him. At the same time, the Pistons played very tough defense against the rest of the Lakers. As a result, Shaq numbers were inflated while the rest of the teams were down. Stats alone don't tell the entire story, and never did. Also, you conveniently forget to mention that Kobe was the only reason the Lakers even managed to win a game in the 2004 FInals because of his 4th quarter and overtime efforts. Nothing Shaq did won that game, and nothing he could have done would have won the series. It takes an entire team to win a Finals, not just one player, which, by and by, LeBron James is proving to everyone right now.

Hate to burst your bubble, but Kobe Bryant doesn't suck. He's a top 5 player in today's league, top defenders call him one of the toughest players in the NBA today to defend, he will go down as one of the greatest of all time and is pretty much a lock for the Hall of Fame. And if you want to throw stats around, he had a Player Efficiency Rating (rates per minute productivity, average PER is 15) this season of 26.13, which ranked him #5 of most efficient players in the NBA, and #2 most efficient in his position. All testiments to non-suckage.

You can quote stats all you want, but only someone who is a blind hater with next to zero real knowledge of the game of basketball thinks Kobe Bryant sucks. Like quoting stats means you know something. Anyone can quote a stat, but it takes more than a box score, though, to interpret them and actually understand what they mean. So, stop trying to intelectualize it, the stat doesn't exist that will backup your hate for the guy.

I agree totally, bud. People who think Dirk choked against Miami OR against Goldenstate either didn't watch, or don't know the whole story. First of all, we all know what the refs did to the Mavs in the finals, especially game 5. What a lot of people don't know is that in the 2007 playoffs against Goldenstate, not only was Dirk being triple-teamed by a team run by his former long-time coach, HIS DAD WAS HAVING SURGERY OVER IN GERMANY. I don't blame Dirk one bit for not being able to get 30 and 10 every game while something of that magnitude was hanging over him for the whole series. And Dirk didn't even say a word about it to the media or anything. And people say Dirk doesn't have heart...

Your an asshole, hater..... dont pull your lil sidenotes out

There is no Jordan, but Kobe Bryant is the closest thing to him

& he is the best athlete in sports today and the NBA

Plus Kobe Bryant averages arent up to par in the finals because the ball was running through Shaquille O'neal, Phil Jackson made Kobe give it to Shaq. But Kobe was there in the clutch moments, which was keys to get to the finals and winning those finals in the first place.

Dont be hater dude.

Accept Greatness, it comes once every decade. & let me tell you Lebron will not be it.

Kobe Bryant IS the Greatest Player in Professional Sports.

Shaq is the reason LA won those rings and not Kobe. Shaq is the reason why LA has not won rings since he let and Kobe is the reason LA has not won since Shaq left.

Tim, thanks for posting that for me bro.

now read it kobe fans

shaq had nothing to do with the lakers losing in 2004, he played phoenominal and kobe played like his usual self in the finals, the choke artist.

if Jordan was a pig who demanded trades, he would have gone to utah in 1988 and he would have won 15 championships with malone and stockton

pippen was replaceable
