If the players called there own fouls, the game would become a free throw contest.

Yes I agree with you 100%. However, like everything else there seems to be politics involved. This thing is much bigger than officiating. The NBA isn't ready for LeBron James to get a championship or MVP for that matter, just yet. Like Michael Jordan said LeBron James has single handidly saved the NBA. Since MJ retired viewer ratings and interest in the NBA were plummeting. However, when LeBron came on the scene and was dubbed "the next greatest thing", the fan interest began peak once again. All eyes are on LeBron. King James is the NBA's cash cow so they have to milk him for all he is worth. They figure if he gets a league MVP or a championship too early in his career that people might become disinterested and stop watching. I have proof to substantiate my allegations. Example 1) Robert Horry makes a flagrant foul in the Spurs series against the Suns and serves a two game suspension, Antonio McDyess makes a flagrant foul in the Pistons/Cavs series and is still aloud to play. Example 2) Last year LeBron James averages over 31 points per game, 7 rebounds and nearly 7 assists per game, his team finishes only 2 wins less than the Suns who has an all-star line up and they give the MVP to Nash, Example 3) This year despite leading the Cavs all the way to the NBA Championship he didn't even get voted to the All-NBA first team, Example 4) The obvious missed foul calls endured by LeBron and the Cavaliers. Unfortunately, it looks as if the NBA has the officials and the fans playing THEIR game. Peace and God bless.

What I find the most annoying is the fact that no one would be saying the Refs are sucky if the Cavs had won the game.
The Cavs blew a golden opportunity, with the Spurs playing perfectly horrible. Game 3 was one of the most dreadful games I have ever seen. I love my Spurs, but they plain sucked last night.
There are a lot of calls that are missed in every game, every quarter, and every half. Last night's game was no exception. Look at it from this perspective, at the end of the first half they missed a call on Parker, which should have been free throws and it wasn't, at the end of the game they missed a call in favor of Lebron.
There were also a lot of calls that had little or no contact. There was also a lot of contact down the stretch that they let go on both ends of the court. There was no guarantee that LBJ would have made three free throws to tie the game, he is one of the worst free throw shooters in the league.
All the fans should look at the box scores, the foul calls and free throws have been virtually even. Quit complaining and move on!

I agree, way too much power is given to refs (as well as baseball umpires and football refs) in sport. Unfortunately, there'll always be intangible factors that seem to influence their decisions in one way or another. At least football uses instant replay in certain cases, and there should be more opportunities like these to challenge different types of calls in all sports. The best use of any of this is tennis, where they've automated a lot of the line calls to the point where anything will almost always have the outcome it should have (at least at the bigger tournaments). You'd think with technology there'd be more we can do in basketball, but that time has unfortunately yet to come.
Have you been to RootZoo.com yet? Ask this question there, it's a brand new community just for sports fans, and you'll get some great responses from other basketball nuts . Check it out and set up a free screenname there, you'll love it.

I agree but it's a hard profession, damned if you do damned if you don't. They also don't have the capability or luxury to see things in the "big picture" like we do, or with the capability of rewind, etc. It's a tougher job than it looks. However with regards to flopping, hopefully they will implement a rule to curb it's usage. For instance Soccer refs can give yellow cards to those considered flopping, perhaps the NBA can make a similar rule. The hope of the rule is that it won't have to be enforced too much the simple fact of having the rule should be enough to deter most people from flopping.

they are biased whilst it includes the celebrities. I extremely have in no way seen kobe or lebron get talked approximately as for close performs, yet they thoroughly blow calls whilst much less properly popular gamers make it close. Its unfair, yet this is in basic terms the way it somewhat works.
