Well, you have the one before it, Meddle, and the one after, Wish You Were Here (I think...), both of which have similar elements.
Then you have the four well-knowns, which everyone thinks of when they think Pink Floyd. These are Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall.
Wish You Were Here probably has been heard by more people than any other; I think that I've heard every single song on it on the radio in some form.
Shine on You Crazy Diamond (in its full)
Wish You Were Here
Have A Cigar
Welcome to the Machine
Animals is a little angsty and government-hating, and you can pick out things that you hear in today's rock even back then. Don't let the 10+ minute songs scare you away.
Pigs On The Wing (Part 1 and 2)
Dogs
Pigs (Three different ones)
Sheep
The Wall is called by some their opus, nose to nose with Dark Side. The tracks flow together and their are many well-known songs.
Mother
Happiest Days of Our Lives/Another Brick in the Wall Part 2 (We don't need no education; usually played together)
Young Lust (I need a dirty woman, I need a dirty gal)
Hey You
Comfortably Numb
Run Like Hell
Meddle is full of songs never heard on the radio.
One of these Days (bass and bass and bass... very cool)
Pillow of Winds (a mellow, sweet piece)
Fearless (inspirational feel to it. Light.)
San Tropez (semi-cheesy, but fun. This is bluesy.)
Seamus (very, very bluesy. Dogs howling and a finger slide on the guitar. It makes me smile :D)
Echoes (the monstrous 24-minute long mega song. Don't even think of skipping it!)

Animals and Wish You Were Here.
If any of you out there have never seen Floyd play live and think that you might never get the chance then check out a band called Think Floyd. They do not try to be Pink Floyd. They play the music and give it a good feel. I've seen then 3 times. Check out their performance of the Wall. They generally get in some kids from one of the local schools to take part in the show. Another good show is Wish you were here and Dark side of the Moon. They perform both albums from start to finish. I promise you will not be disappointed. Check out their website.

You picked one of the all time great rock albums and certainly Floyd's masterpiece. Their best period was between 1967 and 1977. However, no two Pink Floyd albums ever sounded the same. The closest they came to recapturing the genius of "Dark Side of the Moon", was it's followup, "Wish You Were Here" - my personal favorite. I'll list my favorite albums.
Wish You Were Here -1975
Animals - 1977
Dark Side of the Moon - 1971
Meddle - 1970
The Wall - 1979
Ummagumma ( live) - 1969
Saucerful of Secrets- 1968
Atom Heart Mother - 1970

Dark Side of the Moon was released in 1973. Either side of that you have Obsured By Clouds (1972) and Wish You Were Here (1975)
If you like their style of music then I'd recommend the following:
Wish You Were Here
Delicate Sounds Of Thunder
The Wall (although this isn't quite the same a Dark Side)
Division Bell
Pulse

Pretty much most of their stuff sounds like Dark Side after Dark Side. For a truely interesting Pink Floyd voyage, get "The Wall"

you could get any Pink Floyd album and be just as or more satisfied with it. After I got Dark Side, I got Wish You Were Here, and I love it more than Dark Side. Like I said, you could get any album by them and be happy with it

Try Animals & Wish You Were Here. They both have that great sound. Wish You Were here is the better album in my opinion. The Wall is their most famous album - it's great too. Instead of buying it, you may try renting the movie so you can see what the music's like.

The Wall also for another trippy experience rent or by the movie The Wall-- it's a mix of regular scenes with actors (plot about a rock n' roll star who goes crazy) and disturbing animation all set to the entire The Wall's music.

Meddle is probably closest, IMO. In terms of the sound of the band, I think it is similar, but more spontaneous sounding. Dark Side is very programatic, wheras Meddle is pretty improvisational in places. Wish You Were Here and Animal are much slower. I'd avoid anything after The Wall, those are all pretty terrible. My favorites are the very early ones, but they are much more experimental and not to everyone's taste.
