Was wondering if anyone could tell me if my scrimshaw is real or not. It is a Ship Beatrice-1797 one sided, looks like a sharp tooth. It has a ship with some small birds flying over head, and a sun just to the right of the name (ship Beatrice). It has two sperm whales crossing over each other just below the ship. On the side it says (Luch to Women) spelled that way. At the very bottom it has a native band of some kind going around the bottom. Thanks

You will have to take it to an antique specialist in that field to find out its authenticity. The dates & whether it really is scrimshaw has to be investigated.
