I can see the blue lights are on, and when I turned on the oven, there was a little bit of smoke coming from the oven (it hasn't been turned on for awhile). Do the blue lights mean the oven is working and I should be able to bake something, and do I need to worry about the smoke? Or should it go away in a little bit?

If you have a blue flame you should be okay. The smoke is likely from debris around the area that collected since it's been idle for so long. But for optimal safety, you should have a gas tehnician check it out before you use it. (Note: a yellow flame is indicative of junk in your supply line, and can cause a fume build up in your home...very dangerous).

If it's smoking I'd imagine there's some debris built up inside the oven. It could just need a cleaning.

The smoke is simply burning off things in the oven such as dust and grease from past use.

yes. The oven is ready to operate..by turning on either the burners or the oven. Good luck.
