We just got a puppy, and untill she is fully house trained we have gated off the kitchen and she stays in there when we can't keep a close eye on her. She is in her crate at night and we let her loose in the house during the day but we keep her in the kitchen if Im cleaning or taking care of our son or doing whatever. She has accidents in the kitchen several times a day dispite our efforts at house training. Before we got the dog I used to clean the tile floor with our clorox ready mop. But now it seems like it's not doing it's job. I have to use it at least once a day and even after I use it our floor seems sticky and not clean. I need a better more effective way to clean the floor after my puppy's accidents, and hopefully something a little easier on my wallet too if ya know what I mean. But it needs to be easy enough that I can use it daily . Thank you so much, any suggestions would be helpful!

Ok, first get a mop with a removeable/washable head.... Like the Libman wondermop it's awesome and the head goes right into the wash eliminating buying expensive disposible pads... I would not recommend swiffer wet products...Since you do not rinse the floor- the product has been shown to cause kidney damage in pets.. I threw mine out... I wash my kitchen floor evey night before bed with Lysol disenfectant floor cleaner and I have a dry mop... I also rinse the floor so there's no residue... I buy my floor cleaner at a wholesale store a 64 oz container of concentrate lasts me about a year! Or you can use watered down bleach just rinse the floor... Also, buy acouple spare mop heads that way you always have a clean one... A mop head will generally last through 25-30 washings if you don't put it in the dryer...

I use a product called Oda Ban. It is non toxic a good disinfectant and it will take care of the smell. I use this product in my home. When using for wet mopping dilute with water. Note our dog is a year old and last year about this time I had accidents to clean up on my carpet and kitchen floor and used Oda Ban.

Some hospitals uses Oda Ban there are many different things you can clean with Oda Ban.

I have to agree with the swiffer wet jet suggestion. I had one of the clorox mops and didn't like it and switched to the wet jet and will never go back. I save money you can punch a hole in the top of the bottle and refill the cleaning solution with your favorite cleaner diluted with water. Just make sure you either plug up the whole or tape over it or you will get spills.

Oh so old-fashioned...
but it works!
First: a good scolding for the puppy and his/her nose down next to the pee while you scold (not IN the pee, ew.)
Then: a bucket of hot, soapy water and a mop for the floor.
(it sounds as though the current method is just smearing the pee everywhere --- can I get another "ew!" ?)
Then: rinse with hot, clear water (no soap).
Be sure not to slip on the wet tiles!
Cheap.
Effective.
Nice.

after correcting the dog, wipe up the area with a towel - paper or cloth rag. then.... water and vinager - usually 1/4-1/2 c to a gallon and wipe the area. it is a natural (and cheap) cleaner and disinfectant!! i use it for all surfaces - hardwood floors too and it works great!! (and no it doesn't leave an odor lol)

We use a regular mop and cleaning solution to clean on a "cleaning day" but for your little "accident" days, try one of those handy-dandy swiffer wet jet deals.

A good old mop with some made for washing floors with detergent and a little disinfectant such as bleach will do nicely and cheaply.
