What difference does it make if you have high speed internet LAN if you are locked out locally?

Hopefully you didn't change the administrator password, log in as administrator in safe mode.

You really should, after you have to reformat your PC, which you will I have a feeling, set up a security challenge for your password protected accounts.

usally the administrator is hidden, and has no password. restart the comp, and as soon as it makes one short "beep" press the F8 key until you see a menu. choose "SAfe Mode"
when the computer has booted, the administrator should be visible and with luck, dont have a password. click the admin, when it has logged in, click Start, Run. type lusrmgr.msc (only works on XP pro) or control usepassword2 and hit ENTER.
then select your user, rightclick and choose Select password.
type a new password, hit OK and restart the computer as normal

There are many ways in. Is it XP Home? If so, press F8 at boot and choose Safe Mode from the menu. Login as administrator - assuming you didn't password protect that too of course - and remove your password in Control Panel, Users.

There is a system administrator password. If you changed it when you performed the initial install you are probably in trouble. If you did not, it has the factory password. Call the maker and they probably can help
