Have any of you had an ultrasound that said you were having a girl, and it turn out a boy? I had my 19 week ultrasound and the sonographer didn't know for sure, but says it's 70% girl. My nephew has a 6 month old son who, at 5 months pregnant was told was DEFINATELY a girl. When he and his wife loked at my ultrasound, says it looks like their baby's did. (When I had my son, there was no mistaking it was a boy). I have "felt" like it's a boy all along, and was right twice before. Just wondering what the chances are that it could still turn out to be a boy.
Please let me know if this has happened to you and how far along you were when they did your ultrasound.

To mom of 3:
The statement wasn't saying that my baby looks like theirs. They were told they were definately having a girl, and they have a boy. She said that when she had her ultrasound, that is how the "area" looked.
They don't ALL look like that at 19 weeks...I looked online and compared u/s of boys and girls at 19 weeks. No, they are not all the same.

I was 20 weeks along and they told me it was a boy so I picked out boy names and spread the word.
I delivered a girl!
Ultrasound is not a perfect science. They also told me my first baby would weigh 5 pounds at birth but he was 6 pounds 4 ounces.
So now whatever the ultrasound tech tells me I take with a grain of salt and consider it "their best guess."

Nope sorry, Both of my ultra sounds said boy, and that's what I got!
But if you are nevouse about it then just buy things for baby that are unisex, yellows and greens. There really is no harm in having blue strollers and seats for girls anyhow, but pink for boys is a different story. Then maybe you could buy a few things that are girlie? Dresses, and headbands, And if you do have a boy, then you can gift those items to a friend later on or something.
Also the problem with identifying a girl from a boy in the womb is that when babies are in there, thier genitalia is swollen, and a girls gen. may appear to look like a boys, only because it is bigger than normal.

The results of the ultrasound depends on clarity of the equipment used (sometimes it's just not clear enough) and the skill of the sonographer. I have a boy and a girl and mine was correct both times but my colleague was told she was having a girl and she delivered a boy.
I'm told it's more likely for a boy to be mistaken as a girl than the other way round, for obvious reasons.

With my third child I was told 3 times that it was a girl, I was in the delivery room and my Dr. said, get ready to meet your daughter ----OOPS, its a boy!
I had all kinds of girl things and everything was washed and ready to go. My sister was having a baby and it was a girl, so she got a whole lot of things from me.
My nephew has a 6 month old son who, at 5 months pregnant was told was DEFINITELY a girl. When he and his wife liked at my ultrasound, says it looks like their baby's did.
Now - that statement is silly ( above - I copied from your question ) you can barely see U/S pictures and all babies look alike at this stage, there is no way possible that they would be able to say that this baby looks like theirs did and that it is probably a girl - It looked like theirs because they all look like that.
Go have a 3-D u/s done, you will be able to tell before you deliver with one of those.

I was 17 weeks when I went to the ER and the girl said she wasn't sure but she didn't see anything so on my appointment at 19 weeks again another lady said it was a girl. I am going again on the 20th of June for another u/s and I am hoping it is still a girl. I hear that sometimes it is hard to tell on girls...with my son it was CLEARLY a boy and I found out at 20 weeks with him.

My mom's ultrasounds all the way up to giving birth said that I was a boy and SURPRISE! I turned out to be a girl. I assume ultrasound machines are a lot better that in the 70's but jut to be sure, you might want to go with gender neutral baby things and pick out names for either sex, just in case. :)
Congratulations!

Whenever they can't say 100% that means their wrong. My best friend was told a boy 95 % and they ended up having a girl. Its easier to say its definatly a boy then a girl becasue you can SEE its a boy most of the time...
good luck!
