Music, for the same reasons you said- it's powerful, emotional, energetic- music has saved my life so many times when I've been in a bad way. A movie could never do that.
Plus I can never sit still long enough to watch a whole movie, lol.

Much as I love films I have to vote for music.
Thanks to portable equipment. you can take it with you now, change the mood, fill in the blank spaces, listen to it while running or traveling from point to point, etc.
It makes a party better, and you can sing along with an instrumental or a vocal if you want to; and I use it to meditate, relax, or get out of a down mood one way or another. It's good for dining, just to enjoy the artistry and for romantic times, while watching a dawn, a sunset or the stars and moon...And it's great on the beach, up a mountain, in the desert or when there's a storm...
It's music for me also.
And when Scotty's replacement finally beams me up one night when I say my nightly prayer, "Beam me up Scotty--I want to go home!", I'll have music (I suspect) as I travel about the galaxy taking risks, meeting new races and learning. But the movies we have now by then will be museum pieces except for a handful of idea-level works
that are going to last...

I hadn't thought about it, but I do listen to music far more often that I watch a movie. One summer, my car had an electrical problem. I had to choose between having music or air conditioning. I opted for music and felt I made the right choice.

Music is my life. I can't go more than 1 day without listening to my music. I like songs that explain who I am, or how I am feeling. Movies are just entertainment, sometimes you can relate to a character. Unlike a song which gives words feelings.

For me its both Movies and Music, Some movies make me laugh or they can make me reflect. While music can help me feel a certain way when I need to feel a certain way. To me they are equally important
