I am buying a shed. I don't want it to blow away! They told me to get a lag bolt achoring kit. Does anyone know what that is?

We have a Rubbermaid shed, and honestly, with all the crap in it, it will definitely not blow away.
We have it leveled on just plain old ground.
Had it for four years, and survived a hurricane.

First of all, are you putting it on a cement slab? If you are, then you will need to drill holes in it. The holes should be at least 2 inches deep. Go to the hardware store and get achors. An anchor is a metal device that you place into the hole. The deeper the bolt goes into the hole the achor will spread against the wall of the cement hole. The achor is made with a split in it. The anchor will wedge itself tighter as the bolt is screwed deeper into the hole. Make sure the rubbermaid wall has a firm base with at least 2 inches wide, metal or wooden strip alone the bottom to screw the achor nuts into.

Lag screws are for anchoring in wood, not soil. You may be able to use ground screws, big helix steel devices the screw into the ground if the shed is very small and the winds not all that heavy in your area. I would look the installation instructions up on line by Googling Rubbermaid sheds, find the instructions and follow them.

The lag bolts go into the shed. The rest of the kit should include a "screw type" anchor that goes into the ground and a metal strap that goes from this anchor to the shed connected with the lag screws. It is similar to a hurricane strap.
