It is normal. Remember, the stent connects the kidney that was operated to the ureter, which in turn empties into the bladder, so there is bound to be some blood. The way the ureter sends senstion to the brain, u r bound to experince pain in the lower abdomen/pelvis. So, what u r experiencing is normal. The only cause for concern should be if u develop high fever/giddiness (urinary tract infection) or if u stop passing urine or get dull pain and fullness on the operated side (kinking/slipping/obstruction) of the stent.

As pointed out priorly, drink lots of water.

Hope this relieves ur anxiety.

Bye. TC.

6 mm is huge and I'm guessing that this was a urologic procedure you're describing as opposed to a percutaneous procedure where of ureteral stent can be inserted. If somehow you managed to have this humongous stone to the level of the UVJ (where the ureter inserts into the urinary bladder) then I imagine it took quite a bit of work to macerate this boulder. Invariably, there would be bleeding as a consequenece of some local tissue damage in the process plus the stone causing its own damage to the ureter. It's not abnormal, on the contrary, it's expected. Gross heaturia (a lot of urinary blood) is par for the course after such procedures. I don't know what your CT showed but if there are more little stones that'll certainly explain more blood in your urine, and indeed, a lot of this may be little clots. If it's something that's really freaking you out, call the urologist and describe exactly what's happening, when you had the procedure and any other pertinent info. I wish you well. Ureteral stones are a pain to deal with both for the patient and the surgeon so, I offer you my deepest sympathy.

drink drink drink, the more you drink the quicker the kidney will flush out all that blood. AS for the discomfort, you need to call the doctor and insist on pain relief, he can help you with that.

You need to consult your doc asap. It may be ureter/bladder injury due to stent, or anything, but see yr doc.
