Why do the people like me get addicted and like to make friends over the internet and get emotionally and romantically attached with the friends when they know that they are not going to meet him / her in their real life? I am sure there are more than millions of the people searching for friends on the internet using Yahoo! profiles / match.com or other sites. Please let me know, because I got hurt having close internet friendships with many and most of the time I break up when they leave me.

we are human; we love to social. emotional attachment is a personal issue. it's not wise to do that; the only person would get hurt the most would be you. that's just the fact.

E-friendships are fine as long as both parties know where they stand with each other at ALL times. Some of these friends have to resign themselves to the fact that they'll never meet, and be satisfied with what they have. It's tough, but much easier than making new friends in person, less risk. I've never been romantically involved with someone online, so I don't know the pain you're feeling specifically. But I too have had a close friendship with someone online that ended badly and it hurts just as much as losing anyone close to you. No risk, no reward I guess.
