I'm trying to find out if there is a name for this pattern, or the way the pattern repeats. If you notice, it only repeats horizontally. Most patterns I see are smaller and repeat in both directions.

If anyone could tell me the name of this type of fabric, or links to sites that sell this kind, I'd really appreciate it!

It looks like 2 different fabrics. The top and skirt seems to be a print that has a very wide distance between repeats, so they were able to cut it in a way that showed only one repeat per section. then another co-ordinating border fabric was used for the hem. You can see the seam where it is attached. It sure looks like something Daisy Kingdom would have done.

Daisy Kingdom is very stingy about showing their prints online. they want you to go to the store. I googled six ways to Sunday and could not find this pattern or even a similar one.

I would almost bet it's a Daisy Kingdom print by Cranston, they usually do a 60" wide fabric that has a wide border at one end and a narrow border at the other, with a random print in the middle. Either Simplicity or McCall's will have the dress pattern, or something similar. Daisy Kingdom is known for making fancy little girls' "tea" dresses.

Wal-Mart used to carry the fabric, I haven't looked in a long time, but I'm sure they still carry Daisy Kingdom- the trick is that this pattern may be from a privious year...so that will be the hard part. Otherwise JoAnn Fabrics or Hancock Fabrics will probably carry it as well...

Hope that helps!

I can't identify this particular pattern, but it looks like a border print to me. The design is printed along the length of the selvages, and you'll lay out your pattern pieces differently (usually sideways compared to your normal layout) to take advantage of them.

Some dress patterns are designed to use border prints, but many will not. Make sure you get extra fabric because the pieces cannot be placed for maximum efficiency.

It's a Floral Cotton Chintz. Chintz is a polished cotton. It was really popular in the 50's. Your dress is typical of the same period. Try Googling for it and vintage fabric on eBay.

It looks like a floral scallop on polished cotton and should be available at most fabric stores.

This is a border print.
Try searching for "border print" and "Floral".
