We have several theories, but no conclusive evidence as to just how they built them. They will probably be unsolved forever.

The Egyptians invented plywood. The Romans are credited with inventing concrete, but the Egyptians may have invented it centuries earlier. Joseph Davidovitz, a geochemist, proposed this unorthodox theory:
The Egyptians did not need thousands of slaves and huge ramps to haul huge 50 to 80 ton stones onto the structure. They began at a limestone quarry, the source of much of the material, and applied a caustic substance like sodium bicarbonate, which liquified the rock. Then, the workers simply filled baskets with the liquified limestone and one by one, poured the material into plywood molds on each new level. The plywood was removed after the material hardened, and a new giant block of limestone was completed. The great pyramid was completed in 17 years. No aliens, no Atlantians, no slaves, no big ramps and logs to move 80 ton stones onto the pyramid. The book is out of print, but it is worth checking out.

They got built by aliens funded by the International Jewish Bankers. Modern day humans can build these pyramids any day they want; it's just that modern-day religions don't involve their use.

Modern day humans certainly could build those pyramids. There's just no government interested in funding such a project these days.

Who says ancient humans didn't build them? And who says modern humans can't build them?
Ancient people built the pyramids. After all, without blackberries or presidential election coverage, they didn't have a lot to do with their spare time.
"Hey Horopshot?"
"Yeah?"
"You bored?"
"Kinda."
"You wanna build a big pyramid out of rocks?"
*pause*
"OK."

I've seen them up close. They're a bunch of irregulary cut blocks in a somewhat ordered pile. They probably used ramps. They are not even close to symmetric or high tech.
