Go to Jublife City, and there is the Global Trade Station. The GTS lets you trade Pokemon via a Wifi connection. Or you can battle you friends at any Pokemon center using Wifi. Battle Island has Wifi battling (I think). And to get your friend code you go to a Pokemon center and go downstairs (or upstairs, can't remember) and talk to the lady nearest the elevator. She will give you a Pal Pad which lets you add friend codes and check your own.

Go downstairs in any PokéCenter and talk to any of the left-two ladies at the counter. After finally entering the room, exit. Go into your bag, and go to the Key Items pocket. Open up the Pal Pad, and then go to the final option (mine says IcyCool's CODE, yours will show your trainer's name), and your code should display. You need to use the WFC in order to get a friend code, that's why you needed to enter then exit. Start recording your friends' Friend Codes so you guys can play online!

Go the basement in any pokecenter. They will give you your pal pad. If your settings are correct, you will go online and get your code.
Go to menu > items > key item > pal pad.
