When running, if I replace the filter, then engine oil &/or gas drips out of the filter. WHAT IS GOING ON? My tiller was running fine last fall when I put it up.

Is this a new filter or is it old one? It could be so dirty that it is choking the engine. The other possibility might be that there is too much oil in the engine. Check the oil level if it is too full drain some out.

Sounds like your valves may need adjusting.

If the valves aren't adjusted correctly, the intake may open to soon causing blow back. In other words, the fuel from the carb is being blown backwards into your filter.

Since the air filter is directly over the carborator... I would think it's a carb issue.... Best bet.. take it to a small engine repair person....
