Hey guys! I'm a cheerleader & i have been tumbling for the past 3 mornings & my ankles are killing me! Today at practice I had my coach wrap them but, i still felt nothin but pain. It hurts really bad to stand on them (expecially when i tumble!) I stretch them REALLY good before & after practice too. My mom wont take me to the doctor because she says "all the doctor is going to say is rest on them." And of course, that's what I do all the time (except for when i have cheer) I don't know what to do anymore!!! Please answer if you have any solutions! Thanks guys!

Rest means more than, "I rest every minute I am not cheering." It might mean take a week off from tumbling. Ask mom if you can take some ibuprofen as directed and see if that helps with the inflammation. And ask coach for several days' break from tumbling and jumping to heal up.

Hey,
Seriously go and see a sports doctor or an Orthopedic surgeon. If you are resting your ankles, icing them and doing all the right things and they are still hurting you need to get them checked out. You may have something like a stress fracture. Ankles are some of the hardest joints to repair if you damage them, so make sure you take good care of them!

Also if it is just a little problem it won't take long to fix.... if it gets too bad the recovery time is likely to be longer

I work for a foot/ankle surgeon....first thing is a good shoe....2nd is a custom molded orthotic "something like the inserts you buy over the counter. These are custom made to your exact foot step and pressure points. This will help, but you may need to wear a bauer brace under your sock. Its like a thick stocking...no one will see it " I use on every once in a blue'" even in the summer. Have your mom check with her insurance coverage to see if she has durable medical equipment coverage, then go sports med Dr or DPM.

If it hurts, stop doing those activities. I remember running too fast too soon and developed the same problem. I suspect it was a stress fracture. Go to the doctor and get some x-rays to be sure. I recommend you stop completely until you are healed up or else it will get worse. I wish you well.
