no one has offended me personally, just curious

That depends on who it is.
If it's my children, I discuss it with them right away and get to the heart of the issue openly and kindly.
If it's a good friend, yes we talk.
If it's someone I don't know well or that has issues or is in pain in some way and I know it's just lashing out, I just forgive and move on.

I wish I could ignore them cause I know that responding will probably make things worse but I can't hold my tongue, I have to voice my opinion sometimes.

Usually I just ignore it unless it's on Y!A P&S, then I go after them.
