Tell the boss you want to be paid so that if you are injured on the trip you can collect workmans compensation. I would also want to know does he write this off on his taxes as a business expense, since no work is involved and you are not being paid. If it is solely for pleasure. Who knows maybe your hubby is planning a surprise party and has to think of a way to get you to the bahamas you never know don't blow it just go with the flow. It could be alot worse.

Sounds like some wierd kinda sexual thing don't you think?
Maybe not.
Anyway. There's no such thing as slavery anymore. You don't have to go. But I'm sure your boss will find ways to make you wish you had.
On the other hand, maybe you ought to hire a lawyer and find out if, in your state, you can be required to go on a vacation trip with your boss.

It cannot be mandatory, as in there will be official repercussions.
however, a lot of bosses take great pride in being able to do stuff like this, and take it as a personal affront if the offer is rejected.
How long is the trip? Can't you make arrangements for someone to feed your child and change your spouse's diapers? You don't HAVE to take them along.
My company takes 1 or 2 trips like this each year. I have gone on some, and my wife and kids have not accompanied me, b/c they don't like to travel and they don't like teh destinations.

I suppose your boss could require it, if the trip is considered business and you are considered to be "working" and not on vacation. If the boss is paying you for it, and if it's not dinged against your vacation time or vacation pay, yeah, I guess the boss could require it.

I don't think it is legal. Just politely talk to the boss and express your concerns.

As long as they are paying you for your time and there is no clause in your contract limiting travel requirements, you are stuck.
