I love Passions and Days of our lives however the rest I find silly and dumb.

I guess because Passions and Days have young adults so I'm going through all the stuff they are. Days has the party and college girls and I'm a college girl and Passions well I guess they're all a bit older than me but I can still relate to them a little but Passions is suppose to be ending in a few months :(

I've learned a few things about life off those shows though and while they know be reality they do have realistic features of life. I mean honestly who hasn't been cheated on or extremely betrayed? We all have! Now the girl not knowing who the father is is pretty commom now too and being stuck with one person while loving another does happen in real life too....

So while they are not "real" they sort of are....

They can be addictive. I know I've watched them many times when I should have been studying...but since I don't spend friday-monday wasted I figure it's somewhat okay...

I think they're very entertaining. A good storyline can be addictive. I love it when I can't wait until tomorrow to see what will happen, but I've never even started to believe they're real. I like to see what the stars are wearing - usually cocktail dresses to work (AMC). lol lol Some of the "it's just a soap opera" stuff makes me laugh.
IF THE Person a few above me would rather read a book, why is he answering questions in the soap Opera category on Y/A?

When you put an apostrophe and an 's' at the end of opera, you're making it into a possessive noun, not making it plural. Amazed that I know this after following most of the soaps on SoapNet? I enjoy predicting what will happen next because it spurs creativity. The people who whine about soaps and say they're for couch potatoes clearly haven't figured out the concept of multi-tasking and they are closed-minded fools. Soaps are much more harmless than Desperate Housewives, Grey's, American Idol (popularity show) or any other ridiculous tv show that Americans are addicted to. There's far less gore, sex, etc. in the soaps I watch! This is because soap creators are well aware of their younger audiences. Many deal with real issues like "coming out," transsexuality, rape, internet predators, dangers of internet pornography, and so on, in relatively positive, healthy ways. Of course there's drama. But I'd rather have it on my tv set than in my own life!

I think they can be somewhat addictive, in that you want to know what happens next. But I guess I've watched enough that I already often kinda know what to expect because they're pretty predictable. I don't know how anyone could start to believe they're real though! All that drama just makes me roll my eyes sometimes! But they can be good for a laugh, too. Like some of the crappy acting (mainly when they get hysterical - which is often, I know). It's hilarious!

They are kinda addictive. For example, I have been watching Passions since day 1 and within the last few years I started to find the show completely aggravating but I still have to watch..... no matter what.

I think some of them are really silly, but I've been watching Y&R and B&B since I was a little kid (with my mom) and I've really tried to stop. Especially with B&B. But I don't think I will ever give up Y&R. I'm definitely hooked!

I had a headband on once that my friend was admiring and I said "Nikki had on one like it today". Since we had a mutual friend named Nikki who hadn't been wearing a headband that day, I had to explain that I was talking about Nikki from Y&R. She thought I was a bit nuts ;o)

Soaps are a necessary evil...

a girls' gotta have a vice. I don't drink, smoke, gamble or cheat on my husband, but I do subscribe to Soapnet!
