It depends on the degree of alcohol (how many additional carbons are attached to the same carbon as the hydroxyl group)

1-hexanol is 1st degree
isohexylalcohol is 1st degree
2- hexanol is a second degree
2-methyl-2-pentanol is a 3rd degree

Na2Cr2O7 is an oxidizing agent which should oxidize 1st and 2nd degree alcohols.
