I have a friend that makes more of Halloween that she does Christmas. She decorates her entire house and garden and it does look amazing. It takes her about a week to put everything up. She puts signs all over her house and garden. Also has Halloween lights around her doorway and windows. Inddors she has black papers on the walls of her lounge so that all her illuminated halloween ornaments look even better against the contrast of the black. She has loads of animated ornaments too so lots to see. It really does create the atmosphere. And of course the whole family dress up (adults too) .
Like you i love Halloween. In the Uk you can get Halloween tinsel which looks fab too. Black and green or black and orange. I put spiders webs up at the window with hanging rubber bats and skeltons. I also have pumpkin lights around my windows.
Games for party I put on spooky music/sounds and play musical statues, pin nose on the witch. obviously we have real pumpkins that we make into the laterns too.
food wise I label the drinks drakulas blood (cherry pop), witches plegm (lime or apple pop) I do sausages in rolls and make them look like fingers (ketchup resembling blood). chips. I make a cake and have it shaped as a witch or bat.
Like you i love Halloween! I also make our invitations and buy the stickers to stick on them.
have a great time. I buy all the halloween table cloths, napkins and party cups/plates etc.
It all looks cosy and festive here on 31st Oct. i aslo round off the night by scaring myself watching a spooky film.

Despite what folks say, it's not really too early to be thinking about Halloween or Christmas. After all, some folks do a Christmas fund so as to be able to pay for presents anddecorations when the time comes around. And at least one Halloween website suggests doing something similar for Halloween. Both are two of the most pricy holidays thanks to all the decorations and such, so starting to plan early, even though you may not be able to do anything for a few months yet, isn't a bad idea.
So I'm gonna give you a few websites to check out that will be of some help. I'm also gona give you a few recipes from some of the Halloween samplers I have here.
The following are from Halloween Food, Fun, & Crafts, published in 2005 by Favorite Brand Name Recipes:
"Dripping Blood Punch (page 77)
Makes 8 servings
Ingedients
8 thick slices cucumber
4 cups pineapple juice
1 cup orange juice
2 cups ginger ale
ice
8 tablesoons grenadine syrup
Steps
1 Cut cucumber slices into vampire fangs.
2 Combine pineapple juice and orange juice in large pitcher. Refrigerate until serving time.
3 Just before serving, stir gingerall into juice mixture. Fill glasses generously with ice and add vampire fangs to rims. Pour punch into ice-filled glasses. Slowly drizzle 1 tablespoon grenadine over top of each serving."
Ok, with this one, the grenadine looks kinda like blood in the glass. Each cucumber slice you want to cut three triangles out of, along with the lower most portion of the slice, to make the fangs.
"Bats' Wings with Drip Sauce (page 82)
Makes 8 servings and 1 1/3 cups sauce
Ingredients (Bats' Wings)
24 chicken wings (3 to 4 pounds)
1 cup low-sodium soy sauce
3/4 cup unsulphured molasses
1/2 cup beef broth
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
Ingredients (Drip Sauce)
1 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon hot sauce
Steps
1 Preheat oven to 375 F.
2 Stretch out each chicken wing to resemble bats' wings. Arrange wings, skin side down, in a roasting pan large enough to accomodate single layer.
3. Combine soy sauce, molasses, broth, and ginger in small saucepan; heat over low heat until mixture is smooth andwell blended. Pour evenly over wings. Bake wings 30 minutes; turn and bake 30 minutes more or until sauce is thick and sticky.
4 Meanwhile for Drip Sauce, combine all ingredients in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat until bubbly, stiring occasionally. Let cool slightly before serving."
The following is an Emeril Lagasse recipe he did a few years ago on a Food Network Halloween special. It's more a garnish for a drink, but you may like it.
"Bloodshot Eyeballs
Ingredients
Leechie nuts
Red Marachino cherries
Chocolate chips
Place a chocolate chip into a cherry to for the ppil and the iris. Then place both into the leechie nut so both the cherry and the chocolate chip can be seen. Make as many pairs as you wish. When you're ready to serve, drop two into each glass and fill with the drink."
Having done this last year when I helped my sister with her Halloween party, my advice is to use mini chocolate chips as the full sized ones don't want to stuff a cherry easily.
The folloing is from Frightfully Festive Halloween Recipes & Party Ideas, published by Favorite Brand Name Recipes in 2002:
"Witches' Brew
Makes 4 (6 ounce) servings)
Ingredients
2 cups apple cider
1 1/2 to 2 cups vanilla ice cream
2 tablespoons honey
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Steps
1 Process cider, ice cream, honey, cinnamon, and nutmegin food processor or blender until smooth. Pour into glasses and sprinkle with additional additional nutmeg. Serve immediately.
Serving Suggestion: Add a few drops of desiried food coloring to ingredients in food processor to make a scary brew.
Lighten up: To reduce fat, replace vanilla ice cream with reduced-fat or fat-free ice cream or frozen yogurt.
Prep time: 10 minutes"
There are other Witches' Brew recipes out there, but for me this is it. I've never added any food coloring cause you get a nice, creamy brown color from the vanilla and cider mixing together. Much more of a desert drink, and something I had to make for my sister's party cause I'd made it for a friend of her's the year before and he kept asking her if I'd make it. It really is very good, at least with regular ice cream.
Another recipe that I've done, but I'm not sure which book I got it out of, was a haunted Shepard's Pie. Basically, make up a regular Shepard's Pie, but rather than just spread mashed potato on top, make little mashed potato ghosts by doloping the potato on top and adding a couple of peas. Then bake.
