Roger has always been media friendly...while Barry hates the media. Because he chooses not to speak much to them, they bash him for everything.
Everyone that knows baseball knows that Roger did steroids early in his career.
Funny thing, neither needed to. Roger & Barry would be hall of famers even if they didn't juice. Barry was an MVP well before the roids.
Because Roger has been a big "Embassador" for baseball, both oversees & here in the states, he is "untouchable". What that means is that the media will not bash him because he has always been good to them.
Barry acts like a baby, treats the media like aholes, so he gets the same treatment.

One reason I didn't see anyone else touch upon is that while Clemens has done what he's done his entire career, Bonds turned into a super slugger at the point in his career when he should have started hitting fewer, not more, home runs. Clemens didn't go from a very good pitcher to one of the best, he's always been one of the best, from day one. Now, am I saying that he's not taking anything now in order to stay at that level? No. I'm saying that there isn't the huge disparity in the performance level in his career to make it obvious that he's taking something.

No doubt Bonds takes more heat, but we have known about Bonds for how many years? Clemen's involvement in the Mitchell report, which has been the main suggestion is only one month old On Bonds however, I am really confused at what evidence you want to wait for when Barry Bonds HIMSELF has admitted he used the Cream and the Clear. If I tell you I've killed someone, but no one can actually prove it, I've got to say, PUT ME IN JAIL. Bonds admitted his use, his contention was, and the source of his indictment was lying about whether he knew it was steroids. If Bonds didn't say he used steroids and the government indites him for lying about whether he knew it was steroids or not, that wouldn't make sense now would it? With Bonds, he has already provided the evidence. It's one thing to say that you personally haven't seen it (either in transcripts or on video), but don't have your basis on the fact that it doesn't exist.

There have been a lot of rumors about Roger but they don't tend to get too much media attention. When Jason Grimsley got in all the trouble last season and all of those things came to light about what was going on with him, a document was leaked to the media. It had some names of players Grimsley said were taking steroids but they were blacked out. Well, since, the names have come to surface, and one of those names was Roger Clemens. He of course denies it so most of the media goes along with it. Most people point out Eric Gagne was probably 'roided out, too. Are these guys getting off because they're pitchers? Because they're media friendly? Because the color of their skin? Or is it a all of the above?

One difference is the way that Bonds' game changed when he got older. He became a much, much bigger person and started hitting a lot more home runs. Roger Clemens was a power pitcher when he was younger and he has continued that as he has gotten older. He struck out 20 in a game in his 20's and then he did it 10 years later. Barry's home runs all came only in the "steroid era".

good question.....people talk about how bonds appearance has changed over the years, have you seen Clemens pictures back in the late 80's compared to now?looks like a different person.is the only reason Clemens gets a pass is because hes more cordial to the media?being a gentleman is not a requirement for being a superstar.if your good at what you do,then that should be all that matters.

The big reason is that with Clemens, the only sign of PED (performance-enhancing drugs) use is his good numbers, and those numbers haven't gotten significantly better as he's aged (the improvement after joining the Astros is likely due to changing leagues and facing batters who were unfamiliar with him).
With Bonds, there is the abundance of secondary evidence of PED use - i.e., his trainer getting arrested for dealing steroids, his relationship with BALCO, and the testimony of his former mistress. With his statistics, there was a large jump in his numbers when he hit his late 30s - that is, a player whose previous high slugging percentage was .677 was suddenly slugging in the .688-.863 range (and his OBP and batting average showed similar jumps). Such a change in performance by a player over the age of 35 is simply unprecedented in major league history - it is a lot more believable that he was on drugs than he suddenly discovered additional talent after 15 years in the majors.

There has been questions about Roger Clemens. A couple of years ago it was brought up. I think it has something to do with Jason Grimsley of Arizona. I remember hearing a story about one of the ESPN insiders (Patrick, Gammons?) being shown the information at a baseball game from a leak. Andy Pettite was named also at the time and then it grew to that they tested positive but swept it under the rug. cannot find story online though.

People are such idiots. Clemens conditions his body so he doesnt hurt and he pitches every 5 days??? Didnt he have to delay his major league 07 debut because of an injury?? Yes he did!!! When was the last time the great conditioned athelete played a whole season?? i thought so!!! Barry beat out a ground ball for a base hit the other day. Barry is 4 for 4 in steal attempts this year. Albert pujols is 0 for 4...................hummmmmmmm Barry is a very smart player and knows his body very well, because he trains hard and conditions hard. Clemons isnt a pimple on Barry's ***!!!!!

Clemens is very open about the conditioning and exercise he goes through in order to keep in shape. He does a lot more than the average pitcher. People see him as a hard worker that gets results, not a steroid user.
While Barry is a little bit more mysterious and the pubic allegations that have link him to steroids hasn't helped his cause.
